Great post Keith! I'm an Architect and I traveled throughout Turkey for 2 1/2 months. Those solar hot water heaters were one of the first things I noticed on many roof tops in Istanbul. It was a consistantly recurring theme where ever I went in the country and especially in some more "remote" villages. Without really asking anyone, I figured it was because the cost of gas/ electric to heat the water was significanly more expensive than the cost of the system therefore their ROI is realized much quicker. I'm also laughing that in the same photo you captured the other, if not more prolific, roof top icon that were everywhere....sometimes two or three deep on houses. As newer models replaced older ones, no one bothered to take them away. I am, of course, referring to the satellite TV dish. ;-)
