Hands down my favorite was picking up a fresh loaf of bread just out of the oven from the bakery just around the corner from my pansiyon. Practically melted in your mouth! I have to agree with Gillian about the lack of range of flavors I thought there might be. I also bored rather quickly of the traditional Turkish breakfast...though some places offered an excellent buffet with greater variety to choose from. (Erdoba Hotel in Mardin) I'm also mildly allergic to eggs which no one seemed to comprehend. For some reason I never tried the kebap from the clay pot though I walked by them nearly every day in Göreme. I guess there's one more reason to return!

We, too, liked the food in Turkey but also found that there wasn't the range of flavors that I was expecting. I do love the Turkish breakfast...so far only topped by the fresh, fresh fruit and yoghurt I'm enjoying in Thailand!! The White Garden Pension is fabulous isn't it? I thought it was like a secret hideaway for a budget price!!

David will be delighted there's a food post, and I am delighted by the lovely postcard I got. Shocked by the Nescafe coffee -- is the famed Turkish coffee only for after meals? However are you surviving without?
